Prince Leo is a supporting character in Phoenotopia and possibly Phoenotopia: Awakening. As his name implies, he is the prince of Castland, and the son of the kingdom's king and queen.
Description[]
Prince Leo is a fair-skinned man with blonde hair. He wears a crown and what appears to be a shirt and vest. He seems to be a rather sheltered and spoiled person who was described as weak by his own father.
Events of Phoenotopia[]
Sometime before the events of Phoenotopia, Prince Leo and his parents were attacked by alien invaders when they invaded Daea's palace. Sir Max tried to defend the family but wasn't strong enough to ward off their advanced weapons. The king and queen's fate are unknown, but Leo was held prisoner in his own tower by the Kobold General, where all he could do was hope someone will rescue him. Eventually this comes true when Gale rescues him. Leo is mortified by the fact that he was not only rescued by a girl, but oneyounger than himself as well. Nevertheless, he quickly gets over it and allows Gale to escort him out of the tower.
They head back to Daea's dungeon and reunite with Thomas and Sir Max, with the former suggesting they bring Prince Leo to Panselo to keep him safe. At the village, Prince Leo appears at the adults-only meeting, where he and the rest of the adults listen to Billy, a member of another space-faring race who came to warn Earth of an impending alien invasion.
Leo becomes suspicious of Billy's intentions when the latter reveals that he knows about the Phoenix Weapons, whose existence was supposed to be a royal secret. Billy reveals that his kind, the Stellanites, are descended from humans, and that he only wishes to help Earth. Leo apologizes for questioning him and agrees with the plan to have Gale venture into the Forbidden Lands to find the Phoenix Weapons. Leo gives Gale his family heirloom, a crystal shard which be reunited with the shards kept by the other kingdoms in order to recreate the key to access the weapons.
After Gale is given access to the Forbidden Lands, Prince Leo flees the kingdom with Sir Max and seek refuge in Rhodenia, a neighboring kingdom where they plan to gather help for the pending invasion.
Trivia[]
- Prince Leo is one of the few NPCs who can be given an Appreciation Flower. He will be flattered by it, but dismissively says that the true way to a prince's heart is through gold or jewels.
- Phoenotopia was originally planned to be a game that parodies the "pauper saves the princess" formula with the gender roles being reversed. This element is still present with Prince Leo's rescue at the hands of Gale, but it is not the main focus of the storyline.
